Meet Sarah

I am the founder of Eatwell and have over 25 years’ experience working in nutrition. I graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a hold a Masters in European Food Regulation. I am a CORU Registered Dietitian (DIO20117) and have worked in hospitals in Ireland and in the UK as well as running a private practice in Dublin.

I have always been fascinated by how nutrition influences our bodies and how changing nutrition can change everything from lowering cholesterol to helping treat depression. I see a huge amount of confusion about nutrition – and with so much information out there, it can be difficult for people to cut through the noise and find reliable information and advice. With Eatwell, I aim to bring practical, science-based nutrition to wherever I am working. Whether I am developing a product, writing articles, building web-based nutrition information or (my favourite) delivering workplace seminars, I bring up-to-date, no nonsense, and practical nutrition.

Where have I worked?

When I graduated, I worked in the UK in a tertiary referral centre for head and neck cancer. I then headed up the nutrition department at the Bon Secours Hospital in Dublin, working in gut and heart health among others. I set up my own clinic in 1998 which I ran for 20 years working with all kinds of gut issues as well as weight support, eating disorders, heart health, and skin health.

I have been running Eatwell since 2002 and today I work with the Coeliac Society, lecture in Nutrition at TU Dublin and work with lots of companies to deliver seminars on health, develop products and help to communicate to people about them, analyse recipes and menus, write articles on nutrition and help develop nutrition and health claims for nutritious foods.

I bring my love of nutrition – and science-based advice to the airwaves, speaking regularly on television and radio. I work with the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute to communicate about nutrition.

I also carry out nutrition research with the Coeliac Society working on projects to help improve the nutrition in gluten free foods and support people who need to follow a strict gluten free diet for coeliac disease. My research has been presented internationally.

What is eatwell?

Eatwell was created as a reliable and authentic source of nutrition advice and information. Eatwell understands the importance of nutrition from pregnancy and birth right throughout our lives.  My focus with Eatwell is on helping to educate people about the right foods and nutrients for the best of health.  I regularly run workplace seminars and webinars.

I also work with food companies helping them to develop healthy foods as well as navigate the legislation on food labelling, nutrition and health claims on food.  I provide training on food legislation, in particular relating to food labeling, as well as training on health claims on foods.

Eatwell upholds the very highest standards of nutrition and dietetics.
